Hay Fever: Meet the Cast 5

Richard Weller

My name is…

Maddie Chambers

I am playing...

Jackie Coryton

My first stage appearance was...

I believe I was a cow in the school nativity - they did try to upgrade me to being a camel, but I was far too wedded to the friesian cow spots by that point.

I have been involved with the Thespians since...

May - I showed up for the auditions for Hay Fever and no one has asked me to leave yet.

Favourite part (before this one)...

Not to out myself as a Noel Coward fangirl, but playing Elvira from Blithe Spirit has got to be one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had - I got to do the off stage noises, appear mysteriously as a ghost and then be thoroughly sarcastic and horrible. Plus there’s something very satisfying about making audience members scream (even if it wasn’t intentional).

Most interesting place I’ve performed at...

I went to one of the open call auditions for the Harry Potter films, if you can call standing in front of a casting director for 30 seconds performing?

One thing you’d never guess about me...

I’ve been run over twice - hopefully the second time I learned my lesson...

About my character...

Poor, sweet Jackie showed up to the Bliss’ House expecting a lovely weekend away and instead has possibly the worst experience of her entire life. But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?
