On this day in 2007.....


...our then President, the renowned author and radio producer Simon Brett presented "An Evening with Simon Brett" at the Haslemere Museum. The programme for the event said:

"Simon started as a producer for BBC radio, initiating such programmes as ‘Week Ending’ and ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. He became a full-time writer in 1979 and has published over seventy-five books (including the Charles Paris, Mrs. Pargeter and Fethering series of crime novels). His work for radio and television includes No Commitments and the highly successful After Henry (which was described by the Daily Telegraph as ”The best ever domestic comedy radio series”.
